CASI Monthly Meeting
CASI convenes on the first Tuesday of each month at 5 PM in the Citrus Room at Hillcrest. During this meeting, we will discuss CASI's involvement in La Verne and upcoming events.
National Night Out
CASI will operate a booth and participate in the National Night Out event at Las Flores Park on August 6th, beginning at 4:30 PM. To accommodate this event, CASI will not hold its regular meeting on the first Tuesday of August. The next meeting will be scheduled for September.
Hometown Heros
During the Fourth of July celebration in La Verne, former Mayor Don Kendrick presented a meticulously crafted float for CASI. Additionally, CASI extended invitations to a distinguished group of individuals to participate in the parade, known as the Hometown Heros.

On the Pursuit of a Beloved Community: A Workshop Series
Session Six: Defining, Building, and Maintaining a Beloved Community Initiative: In this session, we map out how to get it done. The reality is, no matter how big our dreams, our capacity is still limited. However, our capacities grow exponentially when arranged in a strategic networks. You learn how to go from wherever you are in your community to being able to envisioning your community as a Beloved Community.
Annual Cultural Celebration
Join us for food, music, and the brilliance of culture in this annual celebration. All cultures represented in the City of La Verne are welcome to showcase the beauty and practices of their culture. We will have booths, games, food, vendors, and much, much more! Bring the family to an event that you will be talking about until the next one!
On the Pursuit of a Beloved Community: A Workshop Series
Session Five: Identifying the North Star and Using the Beloved Community as a Path for Your Journey: In this session, we construct goals from the Beloved Community Action Framework created in Session Four and envision a world once those goals and beyond are achieved. We define in practical terms what our communities would look like as beloved communities and map the structural, institutional, and systemic changes needed to get to a Beloved Community.
On the Pursuit of a Beloved Community: A Workshop Series
Session Four: The Role of the Beloved Community in Addressing Structures, Institutions, and Systems that Perpetuate the Three Evils Identified by Dr. King: in this session, the three frameworks constructed from the previous three sessions are combined to create a Beloved Community Action Framework that clarifies how you can use the Beloved Community concept to create a Beloved Community Initiative tailored to your particular community, from your position in your community.

Session Three: Defining the Structures, Institutions, and Systems that Perpetuate the Three Evils Identified by Dr. King: During this session we watch Dr. King’s “Three Evils” speech, review excerpts of writings from the founders of the U.S. to identify, define, and describe the structures, institutions, and systems of the U.S. government, solidify key terms and concepts, then map the terms and concepts into a framework that defines the Structures, Institutions, and Systems that Perpetuate the Three Evils Identified by Dr. King.

Inauguration of President Pardis Mahdavi
Join us as we inaugurate the 19th President of the University of La Verne, President Pardis Mahdavi.
Race and Place
Come explore the history of racial & ethnic segregation in the Citrus Belt through artifacts, exhibits & historical documents. The event will focus on the first half of the twentieth century & cover several topics, including housing & education. Erin Duffy, researcher in social policy at USC and recently appointed to La Verne’s Planning Commission, will direct this interactive event.
